The historic center of Cerreto Sannita, built on the plan and model of a founding city in 1688 after the earthquake that destroyed the old town, with a checkerboard urban layout, is harmonious with wide rectilinear streets flanked by elegant late Baroque facades of churches and palaces. Pottery making is an important activity that is taught in the workshops of the local Art Institute.
Among the typical products we have: oil, DOC wine, IGP meat, the Virni (typical mushrooms of the area), cold cuts and pecorino cheese.
Telese Terme lies in the heart of the Telesina Valley, on a cradle created by the magical meeting of waters. Indeed, it is the latter that connect the town with the entire Samnite territory. Such as the waters of the Rio Grassano and the Seneta stream, coming from the Matese, which go to feed the Calore river and together with the Grassano take their origin from Alto Sannio; not to mention Mount Pugliano itself, whose karst nature makes it “soaked” in water. Waters that have contributed, since the time of the Samnites, to the development of the town of Telese Terme. A succession of centuries that have transformed it from a primary asset to a curative (sulfurous waters) and tourist (Telese Lake, Grassano Park) resource. The 1349 earthquake was the beginning of what has become, over the centuries, the town’s main wealth.
