ENCHANTING CAMPANIA

Naples is a city with a millenary history, in which every corner is a mystery, every alley tells a story, every street has seen artists, writers, musicians who have drawn their inspiration from Naples and have named it as their muse. The historic centre, since 1997 a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the first historical centre of Europe for size and is a treasure trove of monuments, architecture and atmosphere that condense 27 centuries of history. In the Gulf of Naples is situated the island of Procida that, together with Ischia, Vivara and Nisida, is part of the Phlegraean Islands. Procida has been chosen as a movie set for a great number of films, mainly because of its panoramas and its typical Mediterranean architecture. Surely among the most famous and important there is the film Il Postino by Massimo Troisi. Corricela is the most suggestive village of Procida; the main square, named after Troisi, offers one of the most enchanting views in the world; the houses are set one on top of the other and the reason why they are multi-coloured seems to be linked to the tradition of fishermen, who could already recognize their home from the sea. The other peculiarity of the island of Procida is that, thanks to its microclimate, can grow a very special lemon compared to others, in fact it is much larger and sweeter, allowing the preparation of delicacies such as limoncello and lemon cream.
