Historians claim that this picturesque town, stretched out on a tufa terrace between two tributaries of the Isclero River and not far from Mount Taburno, arose on the site of the Samnite city of Saticula, which was deducted as a Roman colony in 313 BC. The inner streets are still on a human scale: walking these characteristic streets and discovering the squares, which suddenly open up, the monuments and palaces, which stand majestically at the exit of the narrow alleys, is a pleasure for the eyes and the mind.
