Visit the Vesuvius and the Eternal City of Pompeii

Meeting with our tour guide at 9:30 AM at the Vesuvio National Park parking area in Ercolano, where you will receive a welcome gift (shopping bag, territory map, discount vouchers for partner shops, and souvenir gadgets).

The experience begins with the discovery of Mount Vesuvius, a symbol of the passion of Neapolitans, deeply connected to history and tradition. The Vesuvio National Park, of great geological and historical interest, was established to protect the values of the area, promote a harmonious relationship between humans and nature, and support environmental education and scientific research.

The park also serves to protect the world’s most famous volcano: Vesuvius, a classic example of a caldera volcano composed of an outer truncated cone, Mount Somma, now inactive, with a largely eroded crater rim within which lies the smaller, still active cone of Vesuvius itself.

The surrounding area, rich in historical and natural beauty, is known for its unique agricultural products, distinguished by their variety and distinct flavors.

A lunch break in a local restaurant is optional.

In the afternoon, visit the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. The archaeological excavations have uncovered the ancient city of Pompeii near the Civita hill, at the gates of modern Pompeii, which was buried under ash and pumice during the AD 79 eruption of Vesuvius, along with Herculaneum, Stabiae, and Oplontis.

The finds from the excavations, initiated by Charles III of Bourbon, provide one of the best-preserved testimonies of Roman life and represent the most intact city from that era. Most artifacts (including everyday objects, frescoes, mosaics, and statues) are preserved at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, with some items displayed in the Pompeii Antiquarium. The vast quantity of discoveries has helped scholars understand the customs, dietary habits, and art of life from over two thousand years ago.

In 1997, to preserve their integrity, the ruins of Pompeii, managed by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, along with those of Herculaneum and Oplontis, were inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
